This webcomic is dedicated to the
sesameros
of San Pedro, and the families that welcomed our research team into
their lives and
chacras
(fields). Manuelito and Gervacia – I hope that the Land Rover has been useful (if not always reliable!). We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Multiactiva; this story exposes some of the complex
tensions arising from agribusiness in the region, and we are grateful to the management staff for their willingness
to have those tough conversations.
This was a deeply collaborative endeavour, and we would like to acknowledge members of the research team in San Pedro, especially Rocío Silvero. It must be weird to see yourself as a comic book character.
This project was supported by an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DE170101406), and strategic funds from the Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies and School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University.
